The relationship and trust between counsellor and client is the most important aspect in dictating success. As a trained counsellor and therapist, my aim with my personal clients is to make them feel safe and at ease. My Cambridge consulting room provides a comfortable and informal setting where you can talk in confidence about the issues on your mind. Together we work through the problems and the reasons and then look at positive steps towards a better outcome. I use psychodynamic and person-centred behavioural therapy and transactional analysis as my core approaches.
Originally trained with Relate, I have worked with many people who are trying to repair their relationships or are facing the difficult prospect of separation and divorce. My extensive experience has shown the profound importance of external professional support during these challenging times, which is why I have become a member of the Cambridge Collaborative Family Law Group.
Couples counselling and relationship therapy
In association with the Cambridge Collaborative Family Law Group
Collaborative Law is a relatively new way of resolving family law matters including divorce, separation and parenting disputes. It is fundamentally changing the way that people think about family law. For couples who genuinely seek a fair solution, and want to minimise the pain of family breakdown, it offers the best way ahead. Individuals and couples who are separating will struggle with the emotional, practical, logistic and financial consequences of ending a relationship. By working with a professional family consultant, they ensure that they are challenged and supported as they focus on the most relevant issues, tease out options and compromises and work towards workable solutions. My practice is based firmly on the knowledge that both the private and the business sides of people’s lives need attention, especially when major decisions have to be made.
I am referred by several solicitors within the Cambridge area as an Associated Professional; and am able to provide mediation and counselling to couples to work through their separation in a non-judgmental way, ensuring that they can continue to communicate and make realistic decisions throughout this difficult time.
